CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The closer we get to the president's big night, the more celebrities come into town.

NewsChannel 36 reporter Michelle Boudin was at a party at the North Carolina Music Factory late Tuesday night where the red carpet was busy.

She talked to rapper and actor Common as he was getting ready to take the stage at the Fillmore. He is in town as part of an event for Musicians On Call. The group promotes the healing power of music.

We asked Common what it's like to be a part of the DNC.

"It's a lot of fun... I feel honored," he said. "I tell people I'm going to the DNC. It's just something as an artist to be a part of something affecting the world."

Several other celebrities have been spotted around Charlotte this week including John Legend, Jon Stewart of 'The Daily Show', James Taylor, Jeff Bridges, actor and civil servant Kal Penn and actor Adrian Grenier.

During Michelle Obama’s speech Tuesday night inside Time Warner Cable Arena Will.I.Am was spotted in the crowd along with several other familiar faces.  We spotted several actors including Wayne Knight, John Leguizamo, Beau Bridges, Tony Shalhoub and Alfre Woodard.
