CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After winter weather impacted more than 100 flights at Charlotte Douglas Tuesday, the airport says it is open and operational.
There were still 84 cancellations Wednesday, though, and many delays.
Most of the problems had to do with travel to and from Atlanta. Passengers told NBC Charlotte they were left stranded because of conditions there. Officials in Atlanta shut down the airport.
Charlotte Douglas staff set up cots Tuesday night for people unable to make it to their next destinations.
“If we have to rent a car to drive to another airport – it’s funny because we’ll probably drive north to an airport where they can handle the snow instead of driving south to get out of the snow,” Jeff Eggleston said.
Deicing operations continue at the airport. Extra staff was called into assist.
People hitting the skies are encouraged to check their individual flight stats before heading to the airport.
