CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A local church is about to unveil its own app.
The Christ Lutheran Church's smartphone app will hit the Android and Apple app market in March.
It will be free and will keep the congregation connected as well as let potential new members learn what the church is about through videos, sermons, blogs, pictures and giving.
Church media tech director Jeff Taylor says people checking out churches now go online and look for apps instead of just walking in the door.
"If Jesus was alive today, would he be using apps, texting, tweeting? Absolutely. [It’s] a way to meet people."
Christ Lutheran Church is one of the first few churches in the area getting an app, along with Elevation Church in Matthews and Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Taylor says other churches are waiting to see how his church's app is received.
