TEGA CAY, S.C. -- A Charlotte couple is making their reality TV debut doing something they love, something that's become a huge trend: Picking.

Rob Hoover and Megan Eager are something of a living cliché. You know the saying one man’s trash is another man’s treasure? "That's absolutely true,” Megan says.

She's an NFL cheerleader and is not shy about admitting she delights in digging through junk.

“It’s so much fun climbing over stuff, getting dirty and pulling something out of a pile of trash and you’re like "Oh my gosh, look what I found." It's a blast,” she says.

Rob and Megan are "pickers"--have been since they first started dating two years ago.

“When people ask what is a picker, I say I go out and find old antiques. Stuff that has been hidden away,” Megan says.

“Being a picker means looking through junk. Looking for rusty gold. Trying to find things some people think are junk are really treasures in disguise,” Rob says.

Picking has become so popular there are now several reality TV shows about it.

The Tega Cay couple taped the debut episode of 'Picked Off' in February and it will air Wednesday night on the History Channel.

“We got to go to places we’ve never picked at before and it was the coolest. I love going and finding stuff. It's a surprise, trying to get the best deal you can. It’s almost like a game trying to get the best deal you can,” Megan says.

The two say they love looking at old signs and things from old gas stations. But after spending a little time with the couple, you realize their best find--each other.
