CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Medic treats two people for injuries after a house fire in west Charlotte.
Charlotte fire officials say they got the call of flames coming from a home on Whitehurst Road just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
The Red Cross said they were helping four adults and one elderly person from the incident.
First responders say the fire began in a shed that was attached to the house. Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A man was injured when he reached into the shed and grabbed a lawnmower that was on fire.
“I saw this guy -- he was going to the side of the house near the utility room. There was a lot of smoke coming from the left window. And that's when all the firefighters started coming down. It was crazy," said Monica Ellis who witnessed the smoke and flames.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
