CHESTER, S.C. – Officials say a victim's grandson is one of at least two suspects in the shooting death of a Chester County employee on Tuesday night.
Jimmie Dianne Paul, 59, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound in the kitchen of her home on Williamsville Church Road around 6:45 p.m. in Chester.
Two people have been arrested in connection to the case, and officials say more arrests are expected.
Authorities say the preliminary investigation led them to believe the attack was orchestrated by 18-year-old Marquaes Buchanan and 17-year-old Clayton Watts. Watts is the grandson of the victim, Paul, and lived in the home.
Both Buchanan and Watts are charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Paul worked in the clerk of court’s office in Chester County. She is the wife of Building and Zoning Director Mack Paul.
Neighbors in the rural town are shocked.
“They are a lit bit stunned. They didn’t sleep with all the commotion going on last night, all the ambulances and everything,” said the victim’s neighbor Julie Stover. “They usually leave their indoors unlocked.”
