MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Nothing ever happens on Duval Street in Mooresville but that changed in a big way Monday morning.

Two year old twins fell out of their second story bedroom window and miraculously suffered only minor bumps and bruises.

"It appears there was a locking malfunction, the children pushed on it they were throwing some toys out of the window and they fell. It appears the bush broke their fall," said Major Darren Campbell of the Iredell County Sheriff's Department.

The Children were airlifted from Lake Norman Regional to Carolinas Medical Center for an evaluation; but were released late Monday Afternoon.

Deputies say the kids may have escaped serious injury by a mere three inches.

"The bush broke their fall from a concrete walkway," said the Major.

Deputies say the Mother took her four year old to the bathroom and the twin's Grandmother was in the backyard when the accident happened.

So far they have not found anything to suggest they were at fault.

There are a lot of small children on this street said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified who says she can relate.

"We support her 100% like I said that could have been any one of us we all have small kids so we know accidents are bound to happen," she said.
