CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A construction worker was taken to a local hospital Monday morning after falling at a high-rise in uptown Charlotte.

It happened just after 11 a.m. at a construction site at Fifth and College streets next to Time Warner Cable Arena.

Capt. Mark Basnight of the Charlotte Fire Department told the Charlotte Observer that the man fell from scaffolding on the 17th floor of One Bank of America Center.

Basnight said the worker, who has not been identified, did not fall a long distance and his injuries were not life-threatening.
