STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A two-week investigation conducted by multiple agencies led to the arrest of a man for drug and weapons charges.
Police began investigating 28-year-old Keith Deshon Adams in early September. Adams allegedly tried to use someone else to buy several firearms, magazines and ammunition for him, which is a felony.
Adams, a convicted felon, is also prohibited from owning a gun.
As the investigation progressed, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says it learned Adams was a heroin distributor.
Detectives arrested Adams in an undercover operation on Sept. 16. They say he tried to trade one-and-a-half ounces of heroin, with a street value of $9,000, for several handguns.
Adams faces multiple charges including possession of heroin and possession of a firearm by a felon.
