CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Heavy rain moved through the Charlotte region early Thursday morning, and the cold weather is expected to stick around.
Heavy rain and chilly temperatures moved through the area around 4 a.m. from the southeast.
The rain moved across Georgia and South Carolina overnight and into the Charlotte region just before the morning rush hour.
The cooler temps are expected to hang around for the rest of the week. Thursday has been cloudy with areas of showers and highs only in the upper 40s, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
Thursday night temps will stay cool with areas experiencing rain. Temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 30s.
Friday will bring slowly clearing skies but still cold with highs in the mid-50s and morning lows in the mid-30s.
