CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A fire destroyed a home in north Charlotte that serves as a family daycare center on Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at a home on Devonbridge Lane near Old Statesville Road around 11 a.m.
Several crews were able to get the fire under control quickly. A neighboring home suffered minor damage from the fire.
A neighbor told NBC Charlotte the home serves as a family daycare center with about four kids.
There were no reported injuries during the fire, and all four of the children and one adult were able to escape the home safely.
The Charlotte Fire Department says the blaze is accidental, and appears to have started from some disposed charcoal in the back of the house. The flames tore through the back of the home and into the attic.
