CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will be increasing DWI enforcement city-wide through New Year’s Eve.
Police said motorists should expect to see DWI checkpoints during this time period along with additional officers in cars, on motorcycles, bicycles and foot who will be alert for impaired drivers.
"Officers will be on foot, on bicycles and in cars to make sure everyone is safe," Sgt. Jesse Wood said.
Wood also said it's important to people to make plans ahead of time if they do plan to drink tonight.
“If you make those arrangements now, you won’t have to worry about it at the end of the night when it’s too late or once you encounter officers," he said.
