BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- One person was killed in multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in Burke County Monday morning.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said one person was killed in an accident involving a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes of I-40. Troopers briefly closed part of the eastbound lanes of I-40 while they investigated the scene.
Troopers say all eastbound lanes of I-40 were reopened around 8 a.m. Traffic is still heavy in the area, and commuters should still expect delays.
Commuters should use I-40 at exit 94, then take Dysartsville Road to U.S. 70; U.S. 70 East to Kathy Road as an alternate route.
