Deputies: Teen shot in abdomen during hunting accident

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- A teenager was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Thursday afternoon after being accidentally shot in Alexander County, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said the boy was shot during a hunting accident on Daniel Lumber Road near Taylorsville just before 5 p.m.

Officials told NBC Charlotte that the 14-year-old boy was target shooting with a friend and that he was accidentally hit.

Deputies said that they boy was shot in the abdomen and that the injuries were serious.
