HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Authorities say a driver plowed into a Huntersville police officer’s car as he was pulling up to the scene of an accident.

The incident happened Sunday night at the intersection of Sam Furr Road and Statesville Road.
Law enforcement said the driver of the Toyota and the Huntersville police officer both had the green light.

They were traveling east and westbound, but as the officer attempted to turn left through the intersection he was hit on the passenger side.

Highway Patrol, who is investigating the crash, tells NBC Charlotte the driver of the 2013 Toyota Corolla explained that she saw the blue lights, but thought the officer would keep straight through the intersection instead of turning left

Officials said no one was seriously injured. The driver of the Corolla will not face any charges.
