CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- All lanes of Interstate 85 have reopened after a collision forced the Highway Patrol to close several lanes during rush hour.
Highway Patrol troopers say a silver car rear-ended a tractor-trailer between Graham Street and Statesville Road.
It took Charlotte firefighters about 14 minutes to free the driver from the car. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Southbound lanes of Interstate 85 were closed for more than an hour. The traffic backup extended to W.T. Harris Boulevard. All lanes reopened by 9 a.m.
