CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A car crash on South Boulevard landed a drunk driver in jail after two of his passengers were sent to the hospital.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, witnesses indicated that the driver, Walter Zavala, lost control of his Pontiac Grand Am causing it to flip into the center median.
Two passengers were ejected from the car. NewsChannel 36 has learned the passengers are Ronald Chafin and Patricia Lopez. Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
Zavala had only minor injuries and is now facing DWI charges and felony serious injury, according to police.
