CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An unwelcome passenger joined students on a public school bus heading to Mint Hill Middle School Friday morning.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, a drunken man, climbed onto a school bus through the emergency door on the back of the bus around 8 a.m. Friday.

The bus was stopped at the intersection of Margaret Wallace Road and Glenn Lyons Street in Matthews when the man jumped on board and started talking to the students.

The bus driver rounded up the students on the bus while a parent who saw the man climb on board called police.

An officer took that man, 20-year-old Isaac Vasquez, into custody, but the 20-year-old suspect was so drunk that he was taken to a hospital before he was taken to jail.

Vasquez has been charged with disorderly conduct on a school bus, trespassing on a school bus, intoxicated and disruptive behavior, unlawful delay of a school bus, underage possession of alcohol and possession of alcohol on school property.
