CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- All six lanes of Independence Boulevard between Idlewild Road and Harris Boulevard were closed for most of the afternoon Thursday following an accident that damaged traffic signals.
Police say a dump truck overturned into the traffic signals at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Idlewild Road.
Just after 10 p.m. the outbound lanes of Independence Blvd. were reopened as well as one inbound lane. The North Carolina Department of Transportation is working to repair the damaged traffic lights.
The driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to CMPD.
The NCDOT hopes to have all lanes reopened overnight.
