CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. – Sunday the number of E. coli cases bumped again, this time to 21.

Officials said the latest case was in Cleveland County.  All of the cases have been link to the Cleveland County fair, including that of a 2-year-old Gaston County toddler who died Friday night.

Sunday, there were 20 cases in N.C. and one case in York S.C.  As of 9:00 p.m. Sunday, Cleveland County had 10 reported cases.  Gaston and Lincoln counties remained at five.

Sunday officials were no closer to learning the source of the outbreak, but could link all 21 cases to the Cleveland County Fair.

The newest case in Cleveland County is exactly what officials were bracing for.  They’re expecting more cases until Wednesday.

Wednesday marks the point 10 days from when the fair ended.
