CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A popular south Charlotte street was shut down for hours early Friday morning after a serious accident in SouthPark.
Sharon Road between Colony Road and Sharon Lane was closed for about three hours due to a wreck that occurred around 2:30 a.m.
Police said a man driving south on Sharon Road crossed the median in his silver Infiniti and hit a wall near the intersection at Morrocroft Lane less than a mile east of SouthPark Mall.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition. Speed and alcohol played a factor in the crash, police said.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
