HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- More jobs are coming to the Charlotte area thanks to a growing high voltage cable company.
On Wednesday ABB opened a new factory in Huntersville that will employ 135 people. Currently 105 employees are at the facility, with the rest to come in the following months.
The new factory was a $90 million investment for ABB.
ABB already employs about 2,000 people in North Carolina, including employees in Kings Mountain and Shelby.
"ABB's presence in the Chatlotte-Mecklenburg area has allowed our region to emerge as a growing energy hub," said Bob Morgan, president of the Charlotte Chamber of commerce. "With the addition of the Huntrrsvile plant, we have clearly established ourselves as a key player in the U.S. energy industry."
