CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for answers after a bizarre chain of events in southwest Charlotte Friday morning.
CMPD was called to a home on Cades Cove Drive in the Steele Creek neighborhood around 1 a.m.
According to police, four suspects forced their way into the home and tried to rob five victims at gunpoint.
Two of the suspects were later arrested; police are looking for the other two.
Captain Chris Dozier said the victims were "shaken up" and decided to spend the rest of the night elsewhere.
Hours later, CMPD and the Charlotte Fire Department were called to the same home after a neighbor called 911.
Henry Cooper was leaving for work when he said he saw smoke coming from the home at 5 a.m.
"I broke the door down to try and go in there, but the smoke that was in there was too hot," he said.
Cooper also reports hearing two explosions.
Police say the home is heavily damaged and they're investigating if there's a connection between the home invasion and the fire.
"That's our concern, that's why we do have arson and we're going to determine what the nature of the fire is," said Dozer.
No one was hurt in robbery or the fire.
