CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- No one was hurt when an apartment building went up in flames Friday afternoon in the University area.

Firefighters responded to a complex off Mallard Creek Church Road near North Tryon Street.

The weather proved to be a challenge for crews, who had trouble putting the flames out because temperatures were so warm.

The fire was upgraded to three alarms because of the heat.

Ten people were displaced.

The cause is unknown.
