GASTONIA, N.C. -- Firefighters were called to the Freightliner plant in Gastonia Tuesday morning after a machine caught fire.
Firefighters were called to the plant Tulip Drive in Gastonia shortly after 5 a.m.
A machine caught fire and employees were evacuated. The fire was contained shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene.
Andy Sheppard was inside the plant at the time.
“It got real smoky,” he said. “We all evacuated just like we always practiced for.”
No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
