CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- The body of 30-year-old Pa Chang was found in the Catawba River early Thursday morning, according to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said Chang's family went down to the river early Thursday morning to continue to search for him. A family member discovered his body floating in the river around 7 a.m.
Chang went missing Tuesday night after he went fishing with a friend near the Lookout Shoals Dam.
Rescue crews, along with family, searched the ground area Wednesday afternoon but did not find any trace of Chang.
Chang's sister Yee says he suffered from epilepsy and has had seizures, which scared them.
"He's a very good swimmer, so if he just fell in there by himself I'm pretty sure he'll be able to come back out. He's a good swimmer but with his medical condition we don't know. That could cause him to be able to not help himself," said Yee.
Chang's body was taken to the Catawba County Medical Examiner's Office and a cause of death has not yet been determined.
