CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Even churches are making changes to stop the spread of the flu.

Saint Matthew Catholic Church said Wednesday it will not offer the cup as part of Holy Communion for at least the next month.

"We are a large institution with a big school -- we could be a contagion," said member Edna Criscola. St. Matthew has nearly 30,000 members.

In addition to changes in Communion, priests are asking members not to hold hands during The Lord's Prayer. Also, they are being asked not to actually touch hands or hug during the Exchange of Peace.

St. Matthew took similar precautions in 2009 during the H1N1 epidemic.
