YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- A former York County Councilman has been charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said Paul Lindemann was arrested on one count of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after he crashed his car off of Hensley Road around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Lindemann is a former council member that represented District 1 for Fort Mill on the York County Council and prior to the incident was due to report to federal prison in April.

In December he was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to lying on a mortgage application.   The sentence was delayed because his wife is expecting their second child next Monday.

In 2008 Lindemann was arrested in Columbia, South Carolina for DUI.  He plead guilty to a lesser offense.

Lindemann was booked at Moss Justice Center in York County.
