MONROE, N.C. -- A former Monroe High School teacher must wear a GPS device for 30 years after pleading guilty to sex charges involving a student.

Police say the crimes happened on the Monroe High School campus in March 2009.

Ollie Shepherd Jr. will serve up to five months in jail. Shepard must wait 10 years to petition the court to review the conditions on wearing the monitoring device.

He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual act with a student and one count of indecent liberties with a student.
