CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation will offer free swim lessons for kids ages 3 through 12 in May.

Swim lessons will be offered in monthly sessions at Ray's Splash Planet. The lessons will take place on Saturday mornings and will continue throughout the year.

If you're interested in signing-up your little one, you're required to attend a pre-registration event Tuesday, May 6, at Ray's Splash Planet at 215 N. Sycamore Street in uptown. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Both children and guardians must be present at the event.

Applications will be accepted between 5:30 and 6:30.

If there are more applicants than slots available, a public lottery will be conducted.
