CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A natural gas leak briefly forced the closure of two uptown streets on Monday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a leak was reported around 9 a.m. at East 4th and Caldwell streets.

Police closed parts of Caldwell and East 4th streets while fire crews investigate the source of the leak. Fire officials have asked motorists and pedestrian to avoid the area until it's cleared.

Crews were able to find the source of the leak and fix it around 11:30 a.m. All roads in uptown were reopened after the leak was fixed.

No buildings in uptown were evacuated during the incident.
