LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) -- A Lexington man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for shooting a 64-year-old man to death as he answered the door at a Gaston home.
Solicitor Donnie Myers said Thursday 22-year-old Shawn William Sharpe was sentenced after a jury found him guilty of murder, burglary and armed robbery.
Deputies say Sharpe went to the home with another man in September 2011 to rob someone of money and drugs. Authorities say the men put on masks and shot Leon Justice in the head when he answered the door.
Myers says Sharpe had been released from prison less than four months before the shooting.
