GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities in Gastonia have arrested a man they say set a neighbor's house on fire.
Shannon Dale Goss, 36, is charged with second-degree arson. Goss is being held in the Gaston County Jail on a $5 million bond. It's not known if he has an attorney.
Police says Goss broke into the neighbor's home Wednesday and tried to set it on fire with an unknown accelerant. Detective Jimmy Arndt said the fires didn't spread quickly and firefighters extinguished the flames.
According to records, Goss has been charged 11 different times for burning structures since 1993. In the last five months, he has been arrested for breaking and entering and financial card theft. He was released from prison in May after serving time for first-degree arson.
