YORK, S.C. -- Police in York are urging parents to talk with their children about the dangers of crossing the street after working their second accident in a week in which a child ran into the street and was struck by a vehicle.
Saturday afternoon, police say a 6-year-old girl ran out in front of a Ford SUV on Ross Cannon Street, and was struck by the passing vehicle.
Police say the girl suffered a broken leg, but otherwise appears to be in good condition.
The driver of the SUV is not facing charges.
The York Police Department is asking that all parents talk with their young children about the dangers of crossing roadways and making sure to check to vehicles are coming before crossing. "Education and supervision of young children is paramount to their safety", the police department said in a press release issued on Monday.
