ROCK HILL, S.C. -- It is a frenetic pace on Christmas Drive in Rock Hill. Seven days before Christmas, the clock is ticking for Aaron Chisholm.
Chisholm is a landscaper by trade, but he has been hired to bring back Christmas for Hazel Carroll. "I thought landscaping was hard but I never knew changing light bulbs was hard,” laughs Chisholm.
For 35 years, Hazel Carroll decorated her home with thousands of lights accumulated from years of after Christmas sales. “It went bigger and bigger and bigger,” said her son Steve.
In 2005, Hazel no longer had the help she needed to put up her massive Christmas display. Chisholm was doing landscape work for Carroll and offered to help with the lights.
For the past two months, Chisholm has been stringing lights and attaching extension cords, trying to revive the Christmas tradition.
“It’s a full time job. I’ll tell you that,” said Chisholm. “Never in my life have I got paid to decorate.”
A week before Christmas, the lights are twinkling again on Christmas Drive. Steve Carroll said his mom, who is in poor health, just wanted to see the lights again.
"I think it'll make her happy,” said Carroll. “I enjoy it for momma’s sake.”
