CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Harris Teeter has upped the reward offering to help find the suspects responsible for multiple break-ins this spring throughout the Carolinas.
Three Harris Teeter stores in the Charlotte area were robbed during an eight-day span in May, and Harris Teeter initially offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to any arrests. On Wednesday, that figure was upped to $75,000, the company said, to bring new attention to the case.
Two men fired shots into a Harris Teeter at 11516 Providence Road in south Charlotte on May 29 around 10 p.m. and robbed the store.
Earlier in May a Harris Teeter on Highway 160 West in Fort Mill was robbed by gunpoint, and two hours later the Harris Teeter on North Cove Road in Cornelius was also robbed.
Along with the three Harris Teeter robberies in Charlotte, there have been reports of five others in Greensboro, two in High Point and one in Winston-Salem, a Greensboro Police Department spokesperson said on May 30. That spokesperson says police have connected all eight of those robberies, linking the same two men to those crimes.
No new incidents were reported last month, and Harris Teeter has heightened security at its stores in and around the Charlotte area.
Anyone with information that may lead to an arrest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
