CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Scattered showers moved across the Charlotte region early Monday morning.

Parts of south Charlotte and Union County saw rain move through the area around 3:30 a.m. A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties until 9 a.m.

The morning rain is expected to slowly move out by late morning, but there are more chances of rain and storms later this afternoon.

Today there will be a mix of clouds and rain early, then mostly cloudy during the afternoon hours.

Like the last couple of days, showers and thunderstorms will pop up in the late afternoon and evening. Highs in the low 80s. The chance of rain is 70 percent.

"If you're heading out early this morning make sure you have the rain gear with you," Larry Sprinkle said. "There is a chance for more rain later this afternoon, maybe a thunderstorm to accompany the rain."

Tuesday and Wednesday looks unsettled as more waves of low pressure move along a stalled frontal boundary near the Carolina Coast. We will see a 50% chance of showers and storms on Tuesday and Tuesday night into Wednesday.

On Wednesday we will continue to see a 40-50% chance of showers and storms. The instability looks to be more significant over our area on Wednesday, so some thunderstorms may become severe.
