SALISBURY, N.C.-- Dozens of vendors returned to what remained of their businesses at a popular flea market Saturday which went up in flames Friday morning.
A chain link fence now surrounds the rubble that was once the Webb Road Flea Market.
Investigators were still on scene as vendors and on-lookers returned Saturday morning to see what was left.
"It's just the hard work and the time and the effort that you spend," says Sheila Swaney, who had a shop at the flea market for the last two years.
Swaney and her husband lost everything in the fire.
"I enjoyed the other vendors. I enjoyed the customers. That's what I going to miss, not seeing them," says Swaney.
John Rogers lives near the market and saw the plumes of smoke when the fire started on Friday.
"Within five to ten minutes time it had already taken over the flea market," says Rogers.
Including his spot which sold collectible cars. "I had $15,000 worth of die cast sitting there," says Rogers.
Buddy, the caretaker of the market, says it probably won't be until mid-week when they will be able to go inside to see if there is anything the flames left behind.
When asked if they will rebuild, Rogers says, "It's going to be hard to, but I haven't made up my mind yet."
Swaney says, "If they rebuild I'll be back!"
