Human remains found in Gaston County

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--- Gaston County police are investigating human remains found near Dallas Tuesday.

A state utility crew discovered the remains around 4 p.m. in a wooded area just off of Old Spencer Mountain Road, officers say.

According to investigators, the deceased appears to be a male. Articles of clothing found on the remains are described as blue jeans, a denim jacket, burgundy dress shirt and black combat boots.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death and to help identify the remains.
