CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Production for the upcoming movie ‘Hunger Games’ took over uptown Charlotte Wednesday.
Trucks carrying lights and other production equipment lined up outside Knight Theater at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Signs around the area directed the crew towards the set inside the theater.
Two police officers were seen monitoring the area. One of them told NewsChannel 36 he had to turn away a few celebrity-seeking photographers earlier Wednesday morning.
The movie shoot is expected to head to Concord on Thursday.
‘Hunger Games’ includes actors Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, and Lenny Kravitz.
Popular actress Jennifer Lawrence plays the lead role of Katniss Everdeen, a young girl who takes her sister's place in a real-life survival contest.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name and is expected to be released Mach 23, 2012.
