HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have cleared the scene and reopened a Huntersville post office after a suspicious package was found earlier Monday afternoon.
Authorities evacuated the post office off of Gilead Road around 12:30 p.m. after a suspicious package was discovered near the building.
Bomb squad technicians were quickly able to determine the package in front of the post office did not contain any explosives, and it was safe for people to enter the building.
Police were on scene for about an hour making sure the area was cleared and that the bomb squad could investigate.
All roads near the post office have been reopened, according to police.
