CHARLOTTE, NC -- Uptown Charlotte was rocking Tuesday with thousands of young people who had a dream and a song.
They lined Time Warner Cable Arena to try out for the next ‘American Idol.’
"We've been waiting," said a 16-year-old Concord girl waiting for her twin sister. “I want it bad for her!”
Hundreds of family members paced, slept, slumped and laid, waiting for their Idol hopefuls.
"He got in line at 10:30 last night to hold a spot and I got here at two o'clock," said Idol hopeful Courtney Hodges. Hodges was one of the few who made it to the next round.
Nick Pierle also tried out, singing "Lean on Me."
Pierle didn't get asked back this time, but said Idol producers asked him to keep working and try out next year.
"I thought that was cool," Pierle said.
There will be two more rounds in Charlotte before producers hit other cities for more tryouts.
