CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- Jeremy Mayfield's old mansion went up in flames Thursday night.
The current owners decided to let firefighters burn it as part of a training exercise.
The burn was originally planned for earlier this month but rescheduled due to weather.
Mayfield was suspended from NASCAR in 2009 after testing positive for methamphetamine.
On Thursday, he tweeted:
If I would've known about a "Burn a house down tax break" I would've burned them all down, #updateyourtaxbreak— jeremymayfield (@jermayfield) December 20, 2013
