GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A judge has lowered the bond for a woman who was recently granted a new trial in connection with a deadly hit-and-run.
Charla Davis had been convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Ronnie Eudy, who was hit and killed in 2008 after stopping to help a driver on the Wilkinson Boulevard Bridge.
In November, an appellate court overturned Charla Davis' conviction, saying that the prosecution should not have been allowed to admit evidence of Davis' previous DWI convictions.
On Monday, a judge lowered Davis' bond from $250,000 to $176,000.
She remains in jail, awaiting the new trial.
