CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- It is a story that has captured our hearts.
A Charlotte teenager paralyzed after diving into a river in Brazil needed financial help for his medical care. Now, a high school from Las Vegas has stepped in to aid the family.
Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas set up a Miracle Minute: a fund raiser where kids give whatever they can for 60 seconds.
The school got the idea to help after watching an NBC Charlotte video on Nick Andrade and the local fundraising efforts to help his family get the former Charlotte Catholic Student from Brazil on a $70,000 air ambulance.
Because of his injury, Andrade needed special transportation to get back to North Carolina.
The entire school in Las Vegas got involved, raising more than $4,000 to help the Andrade family, who at one time lived in Las Vegas.
