LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Animal Shelter has become the first municipal animal shelter in the state to become a no-kill facility.
The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners approved the motion Monday.
Make Lincoln County No Kill, a grassroots group, led the campaign for the change. The shelter expects it will be able to save at least 90 percent of their healthy and adoptable animals.
The shelter plans to emphasize other life-saving techniques for animals, including spaying and neutering pets and public education.
