CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man wanted on statutory rape charges in Union County has been arrested in Texas thanks to tips from "America's Most Wanted" viewers.
Jack Allen Poteat, 46, has been on the run since 1999.
He was wanted in Monroe on charges of first-degree statutory rape, first-degree statutory sex offense, indecent liberties with a minor and crimes against nature involving a 13-year-old girl.
Poteat didn't show up for his trial in October 1999 and has been a fugitive since then.
"America's Most Wanted" aired a profile of Poteat's case on Saturday. Viewer tips led police to a home in Rockwall, Texas.
Texas authorities say Poteat fled the home in a pickup truck Tuesday morning and led police on a brief chase before crashing. He was being treated for minor injuries.
