CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A special volunteer from Charlotte is in Boston helping a grieving city recover.

Meet Peaches, a therapy dog who was chosen for a very important mission to help the city of Boston heal. Peaches is on a list for disaster responses, and got the call for Boston.

"It's very emotional for me to be able to be up there and to know that she can go up there and do some good work," said Peaches owner Jennifer Bashford.

Peaches and Bashford know the city of Boston is still recovering -- physically, and emotionally following the horrific events during the Boston marathon.

But Bashford knows that Peaches is the right dog for the job.

"She’s just a calm girl,” Bashford said. “She’s got a good quiet spirit. She’ll sit still when she knows people just want to love on her."
