SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say no one was hurt after a small school bus was impaled by a log from a logging truck in Summerville.

It happened about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in an area where trucks travel to reach a nearby mill. The log lodged in the bus in an overhang above the driver's seat.

Three Head Start students and a driver's assistant were on the bus. Berkeley County School Superintendent Rodney Thompson said everyone on the bus was checked at a nearby hospital.

The driver of the logging truck, 69-year-old James Roberts, says he didn't realize anything was wrong until he saw part of a log and a flag were missing when he arrived at the mill.

Authorities are trying to find out how the accident occurred.
