CHARLOTTE, NC -- A local man says he bought a Groupon for a carpet cleaning service but got stiffed for months.
Ryan Daly was out his $50 until he decided to “Get McGinty” to help him get his money back.
Daly says he and his roommates were moving out of a house they rented and in order to get their deposit back, they had to steam clean the carpets.
They bought a Groupon for $49 last September from a company called Supreme Carpet Care, which is based out in Concord.
Daly says he tried scheduling the company to come out, but every time he called he got the run-around.
After months of calling, Daly called the I-Team to help him. Daly said the $50 loss wasn’t going to break him, but he felt it was about principle.
Daly says “we waited two, three, four, and pretty soon five months went by in the entire process. He was telling us he’d be out there and that he would let us know when he would have an open appointment.”
We checked on the company’s Facebook page, and found other customers who were unhappy, so we called Supreme Carpet Care to ask why all the delays and was told much of what Ryan says he was told over a period of months.
The owner said his business was down for three months because the van wasn’t running and then he blamed the no-shows on his partner.
We asked to talk to the “partner” but we were told ‘no’.
The owner of the carpet cleaning service declined to be interviewed for the story. But, by the end of the conversation we were able to convince the owner refund Daly his $50 which he did the very next day.
